Swinging Bowl is the champion!
Updating from the last post, we pick up from where we left off which was at noon of Saturday. Our team have yet to lose a match and have fought valiantly but fatigue was getting to them.
Next on our hands were the team ‘kaki bangku’. Our team fought on despite the fatigue and scraped a 1-1 draw with them, Mustafa kamal being the goal scorer again. The team rested after that and replenished their energy and also their fighting spirit to glide to a 1-0 win against team Scudetto and this meant we were head of our group! And hence, we qualified to go on to the semi-finals which were held on the next day; Sunday.
The final rounds of the cup were definitely tight. On our semi-finals, we were up against the 2nd team of group 1. The first half ended with both teams on level grounds and the game was anyone’s to grab. Further into the match we thought that it would result in extra time or maybe even penalties which would have been jittering! But in the dire last minutes the team conjured a last minute goal that saved us all from that agony. And who else to score but our very talented Mustafa Kamal.
Swinging bowl have certainly swung through the cup but not at ease at certain times. In the finals, we were again met up with last year’s champions; Carlton blue (not Charlton blue as in the first report). Both teams played very well until the second half and throughout till the final whistle blew. Extra time looms and tension started rising as the team fought on to find that elusive goal. But alas, the goal was not to be found as the two teams battled without goals for the two extra time halves and hence, penalties.
First up to shoot was our handsome chef, Abang Azam. He coolly slotted it in past the keeper to make it 1-0. The first Carlton Blue player to kick couldn’t defeat our agile keeper Fahmi and the score stayed at 1-0 advantage to us.
Second was Imran. He too slotted it past the helpless Carlton Blue keeper to make it 2-0 to us. Again, Fahmi, agile as a cat saved another penalty to stop Carlton Blue from adding to the score sheet and further frustrating them.
Third penalty. Our young player nicknamed Miu steps up to the spot.
He nails it! 3-0 to us.
This means that if Fahmi stoppes this penalty, Swinging Bowl FC will hold their cup as high as their pride.
The Carlton Blue player calmly walks to the pressure zone.
He runs to the ball
Shoots it!
And unluckily, he scores, making it 3-1 and Swinging Bowl FC have to score one more to win this.
And the fourth kicker takes his place, who is it? It’s Fahmi, our agile goalkeeper. Just one more kick to glory.
Will he make it?
Will he make us proud?
Will he win us the bragging rights?
He shoots.
He SCORES! Swinging Bowl FC wins the cup and our small group of supporters goes nuts!! Ballistic!
Well done to the Guys of Swinging Bowl FC and thank you for making us proud. Also a big thank you to UMNO SA for raising funds for them to travel to Melbourne and carve our names in glory.
