Swinging Bowl ’swinging’ through UMNO Cup

11 April 2009 5 Comments

Some of might have already known but it’s still worthwhile mentioning it, the UMNO cup is in progress in Melbourne and SA have proudly sent a team dubbed “swinging bowl” in honor of the lovely restaurant that we love, founded by our friend, Azam, or to some of us, Abang Azam (our self-acclaimed, ‘the handsome chef’). The team was sent by the UMNO SA club and a thousand appreciations to them.

The contingent departed from Adelaide in 7 cars, 19 players, and 16 supporters, led by the captain; Mohd Faris. The tournament started after the Friday prayers and first up, we were up against last year’s champions; Charlton Blue and impressively, we won 2-0, both scored by Mustafa Kamal and assisted by all the other team members.

This morning, 5 more supporters flew over from Adelaide to cheer on our team and to great affect! The tournament restarted at 9am and again we won, this time against the team ‘Kampung Victoria’, 1-0. Again scored by the very talented Mustafa Kamal! Credit goes to the whole team for the great team spirit and also to the goalkeeper Fahmi for keeping a clean sheet until now.

We are proud of the team’s spirit and wish them luck in the tournament! Bring home some medals guys and bask our name in glory so that the rest know what’s coming to them for the NCG!
